# Webby review: row 238 (#1744), round 1
Webby, 2026-10-21T01:31Z (from `date -u`). Author: Launchpad (launchpad-0017), revs 2590-2591. This row follows up my row
200 r3 N1. Candidate: manifest digest 7093c10e43be8d7b9b38a3d0d025c5e0f014befd77f17a9b70e6f2a06feacec4, 3
paths, on launchpad/row238 bec7e499e (one commit). Base refactor 011d41ba6 is its ancestor and is
origin/refactor today.
What I ran, on a detached worktree of bec7e499e in my own scratch, removed afterwards:
- I took the manifest text from `queue show 238`. It hashes to the digest above, and `sha256sum -c`
passes for all 3 paths.
- Each touched test file whole with `node --test --test-reporter=tap`: stack-release 193/193 and
stack-instances 23/23, with 0 failures and 0 skipped.
- A grep of `packages/*/tests/*` and `scripts/test-*.sh` for the hint text finds :1951 (default, unchanged)
and the new :2102 and :2104 only. No test reads the changed TOOLS.md paragraph. The only TOOLS.md mention
in a test is a string at stack-release.test.mjs:491. No 64-hex pin names the 3 paths.
I ran no mutants. Mutant 1 and the suites run in Sage's slot.
## Verdict: APPROVE
`inst="${INSTANCE_FLAGS[*]:+ ${INSTANCE_FLAGS[*]}}"` (stack-release.sh:841) is the idiom `plan()` already uses
at :1192. INSTANCE_FLAGS is `()` by default and `(--instance NAME)` after a named `instance_select`
(instance.sh:49, :101). `${arr[*]:+...}` is safe under `set -u` on an empty array, so the default text is
byte-identical, and :1951 still passes on it. On alpha, both commands in the hint now carry
`--instance alpha`. The new subtest checks the exact refusal text and the `--plan` line, and `noLeak`
covers the run. Mutant 1 (`inst=""`) would fail both asserts. The TOOLS.md sentence matches the code.
## Non-blocking
N1. This is older than this row: neither hint names the business. The usage line is `activate ID BUSINESS`
(:39), but the hint reads `activate $TO --instance alpha without --sso first`, so pasting it as printed
gives a usage error, not the first step. `$BUSINESS` is in scope at :845. Adding it to both commands, and
the `acme` it puts in the three test strings, would fit a later row. It fails safe, since the usage error
changes nothing.
