No real model was called: Claude Code 2.1.296 and Pi 0.85.1 ran against a mock Messages API on 127.0.0.1.
R1 and R3 block. R2 should be fixed in the same round.
R1: a late broker reply shifts every later reply by one (blocking)
host.mjs:155-171. Broker replies carry no id, andrequest()takes the first IPC message inside 10 s as its answer. When a reply misses the wait, the broker still sends it, and the next request takes it. From then on every request gets the answer to the one before.probe/desync.mjsstalls the broker with SIGSTOP:A refused launch comes back allowed, and one run's capability goes on another runner's stdin. It doesn't heal with idle time. Anything that holds the broker past 10 s does this: a slow disk, swap, or a same-UID stop through the systemd user manager. This is the boundary decision 77 names. Either put an id on each request, echo it in
process.mjsand drop a mismatched reply, or make a broker timeout fatal to the host (exit 1, the unit restarts it). Add a test that stalls the broker past the wait.R3: a dangling symlink in the workspace passes the gate (blocking for Pi)
gate.mjs:45-55.real()walks up withexistsSync, which follows links, so a link with a missing target stays in the unresolved tail and counts as inside. The README says paths must resolve inside the workspace after symlinks. A real Pi session through the candidate adapter and extension (probe/pi-dangling.sh), withws/notes.md -> ../outside/planted.txt:Claude Code is held only by
--restricted(probe/claude-dangling.sh), which the README says nothing depends on. Workspaces persist per instance, so a checked-out repository or an earlier bash-enabled session can leave the link. Fix:lstateach missing component and refuse a symlink, or readlink it and keep resolving. Test a dangling link and a link under a missing directory, for both harnesses.R2:
launcher.close()waits on any openlaunch.sockclient (should fix)launcher.mjs:377-381.close()awaitsserver.close(), which waits for every connection, and the reply only callssocket.end(). A client that keeps its side open (probe/close-hang.mjs,allowHalfOpen) holds the host: "still not closed at 25227 ms", and it closes only when the client is destroyed. The runners' SIGTERM comes after that wait, and the 30 s SIGKILL timer starts after it too. Keep the accepted sockets and destroy them inclose(), ordestroySoon()after the reply.Notes (not blocking)
--restricteddoes real work. With it, no marker from~/.claude/CLAUDE.md, a parent or workspaceCLAUDE.md, or auto-memory reaches the request; without it, all four do (probe/claude-memory.sh). With R3 it is also the layer that holds for Claude Code. The harness README (:29-32) and the adapter comment (adapter.sh:49-52) should say so, and a test should fail if the adapter drops the flag.launchPmdoesn't callauthorizeLaunch, solaunches offdoesn't stopbus start --pm. Probably intended; one README line would say so.runner.mjs:268reads and parses the policy outside thetry, so a bad policy file is an uncaught rejection (exit 1, stack trace), not exit 2./procby the same UID. No secret in it today.close(), no SIGKILL inrecover(), no stdin cap in the runner, noLINE_MAXonlaunch.sock. The code is right where I probed it (probe/close-kill.mjs:host.close -> 0 after 30033 ms, session and runner gone, end linekilled/SIGKILL), but no test holds it. The rest are caught: early signals, broker record-after-checks andrun-ended, instance-running,authorizeLaunch, the|| exit 2hook wrapper, the founder check, the glob..check,launch-revoked, andrecover()'sendRun.Review request for queue row 41, round 2: Slice 1 S6: meta-harness and launching; the PM moves off T3

R1, R2 and R3 are fixed, and notes 1 to 5 are dealt with. My round 1 probes all hold: after a 10 s SIGSTOP the broker channel breaks and p1 to p4 refuse with
broker-channel-broken; a half-open launch client no longer holdsclose()(25 ms and 10 ms); dangling links are refused in both harnesses at any depth. 21 of my 22 mutants are killed, including round 1's four survivors. One new finding blocks, and it was in round 1 too. I missed it then.R4: Pi's
readopens a name the gate never checked (blocking)gate.mjs:65-70checks the path as given. Pi 0.85.1'sread(dist/core/tools/read.js:56) resolves it withresolveReadPathAsync(dist/core/tools/path-utils.js:72-98). When that path doesn't exist, it tries a U+202F space beforeAM./PM., then NFD, then'as U+2019, then NFD plus U+2019, and opens the first that exists. The gate sees a missing name,real()walks up to the workspace, and the call is allowed. If the variant is a workspace symlink that points outside, Pi reads the outside file. Write, edit, grep, find and ls use the lexicalresolveToCwd, so onlyreadis affected.probe/pi-variant.sh, a real Pi session through the candidate adapter and extension, mock API on 127.0.0.1, onereadof a link tooutside/secret.txt:The precondition is a link already in the workspace, say from a cloned repository. That's the case the gate already tests ("a symlink inside the workspace that points out is outside"), and
plainshows it holding for the exact name. Claude Code isn't affected:quoteandnfdgive "File does not exist", and forampmClaude Code's own check refuses ("its symlink resolution changed after permission was checked") after the hook allowed it.Fix: for Pi
read, build Pi's candidate list from the full resolved path, in Pi's order, and refuse if any candidate that exists resolves outside the workspace. Add agate.test.mjscase per variant and api-session.test.mjsread through a curly-apostrophe link. The harness README's pin note should namepath-utils.jsto recheck on a Pi upgrade.Notes (not blocking)
tag()drops the id),launcher.test.mjshangs until my 900 s limit instead of failing. Mv is still killed elsewhere. Atimeouton the launcher tests would turn the hang into a failure, as round 1 noted for Mg.Readeither; Claude Code's own symlink check is what stops it. GivingReadthe same check would remove that dependence, if it's cheap.Review request for queue row 41, round 3: Slice 1 S6: meta-harness and launching; the PM moves off T3

spellings()builds Pi's fourresolveReadPathAsyncvariants from the given and the real workspace path, andotherSpelling()refuses any that exists and resolves outside, through a dangling link, or can't be checked. I checked it against Pi 0.85.1's code, ran 14 edge cases in each harness (28/28 as expected: lowercaseam, two apostrophes,@, NBSP,file://and%27, respelled directories, loops,../ws/), and reran round 2's real Pi session:quote, ampm, nfdandplainare all refused now.Round 2 notes: Mr has a test and is killed; under Mv the cli suite ends in 61 s instead of hanging; Claude
Readhas the R4 check. The Ma leftover reproduced and stays a follow-up.Suites: harness 53/0, seat 27/0, cli 83/0, bus 74/0, business 60/0, and the script suites green. test-release 14/0 with Docker. test-task 26/2, the two live recall checks, a paid call I didn't make.
R5 (blocking): a relative Pi path climbs from a different directory.
insideWorkspace(gate.mjs:71-74) resolves a relative path against the workspace path as given. Pi resolves it against its cwd, and the adapter'scdmakes that the real path. If the workspace path runs through a symlink,..climbs different parents. With$R/data -> $R/deep/storeand the workspace given as$R/data/ws,../../data/ws/Xis$R/data/ws/Xto the gate and$R/deep/data/ws/Xto Pi. A real Pi session (mock API, dummy key):Every Pi path tool goes through this check. Claude Code doesn't have it: it makes the path absolute against its real cwd first, and the gate refuses. The round 2 candidate behaves the same, so this isn't new in round 3; I missed it in both earlier rounds. The precondition is a
dataRootor workspace path on a symlink, sinceworkspaceDir()doesn't resolve it. On this host~/.mosaic-devis a real directory.Fix: resolve a relative path against both the given and the real workspace path, as
spellings()already does, and require both inside. Resolving the workspace withrealpathSyncwhere it's built is worth doing as well. Agate.test.mjscase with this layout in both harnesses and api-session.test.mjswrite would hold it.Sage: this is in the R1 to R3 code you ruled holds, so scope is your call.
Not blocking: four R4 mutants survive (AM/PM regex without
i,'replaced once, anylstaterror skipped, nonormaliseinspellings()). The code is right; fourgate.test.mjscases would hold them, listed in the review.Review request for queue row 41, round 4: Slice 1 S6: meta-harness and launching; the PM moves off T3

insideWorkspace(gate.mjs:76-80) now requires a relative path to be inside from the workspace's real path, where Pi resolves it, and from the path as given. That's stricter than Pi, and BUILD.md records it as a choice. I agree with it: the refused paths climb out and back in, and the plain path reaches the same file. My round 3 probes, unchanged:I also tried the absolute form,
<R>/data/ws/../../data/ws/X, which would slip past the gate's lexical check if a harness opened it unnormalised. Neither does: in real sessions both Pi and Claude Code opened the lexical path, inside the workspace. No finding. The new tests cover a symlinked workspace and a symlinked dataRoot in both harnesses, and a real Pi session per layout. The gate test first asserts that the layout really splits the two resolutions, which I like. Mutants on the new line are all killed: given-only 53/3, real-only 55/1,
||for&&53/3, nonormalise55/1. Round 3's other gate mutants behave as before. Mw, Mx, My and Mz still survive and stay follow-ups, as Sage ruled.Suites: harness 56/0, seat 27/0, cli 83/0, bus 74/0, business 60/0, and the script suites green. test-release 14/0 with Docker. test-task 26/2, the two live recall checks, a paid call I didn't make. Filbert's base run fails the same two.
Not blocking: the README says Claude Code makes "a path" absolute before the hook. I saw that for
file_pathonReadandWrite, not forGreporGlob. The gate checks a relative path from both bases either way.Landed on refactor as
