# Slice 1 S7 run log (row 42, #1524)
Append-only. Brief: `docs/plans/2026-10-04_slice-1.md`, "Slice 1 S7:
acceptance, five pieces in a row". Gate: Jason, from the five trails.
## 2026-10-12T18:30Z start (lead decisions 94, 114, 115)
Row 42 moved briefed to in-progress at queue rev 673 (op
sage-42-start-q118), on Mos's sage-0092 and Jason's Q118 A.
What counts as a piece: one of the first five Mosaic Stack requests Jason
sends to the PM through the Console or `mosaic talk pm` after the Q119
confirm at 2026-10-12T18:27Z. A request sent to T3 Mos doesn't count. Mos
gives Jason the command and logs the slip on Vikunja #205 (decision 114).
What each piece needs to pass (the brief): carried to a closed, reviewed
task; its trail in `mosaic trail` and the Console; only gated decisions
reached Jason; the bus event counts, which are the first measures
(REQ-EVT-1).
How I track it. Agent seats can't read the trail or the bus (REQ-DEC-3;
`scripts/mosaic trail` from this seat refused before 2026-10-12T18:30Z, "this runs only
from a human shell"). So I track each piece through what I can read: the
P19 task the PM creates (sync key), and any queue row and Gitea issue the
piece makes. For each piece this log records the trail subject (the task
ref `vikunja:19/<id>`, or the message id if Jason gives it), so Jason can
read the trail and count the events in the Console `#/trail` or with
`mosaic trail <subject>` at his gate. Nobody builds an agent read path
around that (decision 115).
Known gaps on day one:
- The Console doesn't show the reply to a web send yet. That's row 81
(Dewey, in progress); `mosaic talk pm` shows replies until it lands.
- Mos files the friction they see on #205 with the dogfood label.

## 2026-10-12T18:49Z reachability check, not a piece (Mos sage-0095)
Jason ran `/mnt/storage/src/mosaic-stack/scripts/mosaic talk pm "Can you
hear me now?"` (the #225 stopgap path) and got `sent 6b5b7aef to pm`. So
the human proof passes and the broker accepted the message.send. It is a
reachability check, not a Mosaic Stack request, so it is not piece 1 (Mos's
view, and mine).
Nothing answers it yet. `scripts/mosaic launches list` (which reads
bus-host/sessions.json and is allowed from agent runs) prints "No
sessions". mosaic-bus@mosaic-stack has run `bus start mosaic-stack`
without `--pm` since 2026-10-11T18:19:28Z, and its cgroup holds only the
host and broker processes. The unit template has no `--pm`
(packages/cli/systemd, ExecStart), so a plain restart wouldn't launch a PM
either. Decision 91's watched `--pm` restart (Mos's) hasn't happened.
Until a PM runs, no S7 piece can be answered. Whether the PM picks up
6b5b7aef when it launches, I haven't checked.
## 2026-10-12T18:56Z PM running; both reachability checks answered (Mos sage-0096, sage-0097)
Mos added a temporary drop-in,
`~/.config/systemd/user/[email protected]/pm.conf`, that
sets `bus start %i --pm`, and restarted the unit at 2026-10-12T18:53:34Z.
The journal shows "launched pm: run r0566c6d9e459, claude-code
claude-opus-5-5", and `scripts/mosaic launches list` shows the run,
by jason. The bus now runs the checkout as of that restart. Row 85 (#1579)
removes the drop-in when it lands.
This corrects the last line of the 18:49Z entry. The PM's runner calls
message.receive as it starts, and the broker returns every pm message not
yet delivered (packages/harness/src/runner.mjs:314,
packages/bus/src/broker.mjs:771-777). So a message queued before the
launch is answered.
Two reachability checks, neither a piece (Mos's view, and mine):
- 6b5b7aef ("Can you hear me now?"), sent before the PM ran. It was
answered by c61d6328, RESULT re 6b5b7aef, from Jason's screenshot via Mos.
His `talk` had timed out by then, so he saw it in a second call.
- a8df1e12, answered by 375bfb6a (same source).
The run directory shows turn 1 at 18:53:35Z and turn 2 at 18:55:12Z,
both with empty stderr, and runner.log has no failure line. I read only
file names, sizes and the `runner:` lines, never turn content.
Plain `mosaic` (the Q81 wrapper) still gets human-required (#225 c60).
Until row 85 lands, Jason uses the full path,
`/mnt/storage/src/mosaic-stack/scripts/mosaic talk pm "..."`, or the
Console. Notifier off: notify.json sets binding null, so it was off
before the restart too.
S7 piece 1 is Jason's next real Mosaic Stack request.
