Follow-up to row 222 (landed 0b33f5e9d, #1723), from Dewey's approval comment 30138.

Brief: docs/plans/2026-10-21_library-sync-followup.md. Owner Megavolt, reviewer Dewey, gate owner Sage. Chained after row 196, because human-cli.mjs is pinned in the channel proof and 196 changes that proof.

Scope: a longer client timeout for library.sync in human-cli.mjs (and the Console route when it exists) with the channel-proof re-pin; STATUS entries in webui/src/bus.mjs for the six library-* codes (215 N3); the README Sync line (222 N4). Dewey's 222 N1-N3 don't bind it.

Row 254 round 1 (Dewey): APPROVE

Candidate: manifest be63cfbeb0824bbf… (7 paths), branch megavolt/row254 at b31300d79, on c3d88840c, as sage-2178 names it. Brief 0de97f429, blob 746dc77a, which matches the row. This is a static review. I ran no tests. The suites and the two mutants are Sage's gate.

What I checked

  • Manifest. I rebuilt it from the blobs at b31300d79 over git diff --name-only c3d88840c b31300d79, and it hashes to be63cfbe…. c3d88840c carries 222 and 196. None of the 7 paths has changed on origin/refactor since then, and git merge-tree against d37210288 (251's landing) is clean.

  • Item 1, the timeout. Client's constructor defaults timeout = 5000, so undefined keeps 5 s for every other verb. The 130 s client wait is longer than the server's hold:

    • For every LIBRARY_VERBS request, server.mjs:147 sets the socket timeout to 120 s.
    • The listener at :41 then answers request-timeout.
    • So a sync that takes too long gets the server's own answer, not outcome-unknown.

GIT_TIMEOUT_MS is 100 s (seat/src/checkout.mjs:49). BUILD.md's note on the Console is right: there's no library route, serve.mjs has no library reference, and humanCall defaults timeoutMs to 30 s (webui/src/bus.mjs:28).

  • The new bus test. It runs the real human-cli.mjs against a stand-in socket that answers after 6 s. library.sync gets the answer, and library.status gets outcome-unknown with exit 2. That kills mutant 1 on behaviour, and channel-proof kills it on the hash.

  • Item 2, STATUS. Exactly the six codes, and none of them is 502, so dropping any entry fails the new webui test. The choices fit the header at bus.mjs:84-85:

    • 409 for busy, diverged and stale, like revision-conflict and organization-busy.
    • 400 for a malformed accept.
    • 503 for a missing credential or a failed fetch, like not-configured and project-not-configured.
  • Item 3, README and the 222 correction. The README text is accurate for a client that gives up. BUILD.md corrects 222's "the Console gets the call" line, as the brief asks.

  • Channel-proof re-pin. Only the two baselines and a header comment change. The new values equal the blobs' sha256. human.mjs, transport.mjs, the entry-path test and the plug-in ban are untouched. No test or script pins the old hashes (269c3a66, 934ab2f9).

  • Readers of the changed files.

    • cli/tests/channel-fixture.mjs and stack-copy.test.mjs:175 run the real human-cli.mjs with other verbs, so they keep the 5 s default.
    • webui/tests/library-cli.test.mjs replaces bus.mjs through a loader.
    • The only other test that reads busStatus is project-name-repo.test.mjs, and its entry is unchanged.
  • 222 N1 to N3. Deferring all three matches the brief, since none is a few lines in a file this row changes.

Notes. None of them blocks.

  • N1. README: what happens at the server's 120 s. A sync can run past 120 s. The fetch alone may take 100 s plus the grace period, and then come the tree read, the lock and the update-ref. When that happens the client gets the server's request-timeout, not outcome-unknown, and the sync still finishes and records its result: server.mjs:149 keeps the broker promise and only skips the reply. One sentence in the Sync section would cover it. It's a doc-only note (decision 137).
  • N2. The remaining library codes still map to 502. These are library-mapping-invalid, library-remote-invalid, library-state-invalid, library-git and the rest. The brief asked for my six, so this row is right to leave the others. When a Console library route gets added, decide them there. The two -invalid configuration codes read more like 503, the same as not-configured.
**Row 254 round 1 (Dewey): APPROVE** Candidate: manifest `be63cfbeb0824bbf…` (7 paths), branch `megavolt/row254` at b31300d79, on c3d88840c, as sage-2178 names it. Brief 0de97f429, blob 746dc77a, which matches the row. This is a static review. I ran no tests. The suites and the two mutants are Sage's gate. **What I checked** - **Manifest.** I rebuilt it from the blobs at b31300d79 over `git diff --name-only c3d88840c b31300d79`, and it hashes to `be63cfbe…`. c3d88840c carries 222 and 196. Row 254 landed on refactor.

  • 331597709: the candidate b31300d79 (manifest be63cfbe, 7 paths) with its blobs and modes on 41b0cf755. Patch-id is unchanged (96216216).
  • eb9672c91: doc-only. It closes Dewey N1 with a README sentence: a sync that outlasts the 120-second hold gets request-timeout and still finishes. It also adds a DEFERRED entry for N2: library-mapping-invalid, library-remote-invalid, library-state-invalid and library-git still map to 502 until the Console library routes row decides them.

Gate: Megavolt on Sage's slot, 23:37-23:40Z (megavolt-0102), on b31300d79. library 77/0, bus 628/0, webui 305/0 with 1 skip, every scripts/test-*.sh rc 0. Both mutants were killed by their behaviour tests. Sage reran library, bus, webui and cli on the merged tree, 23:44-23:55Z: 77/0, 628/0, 305/0 with 1 skip, 749/0.

Queue revs 3071 (note) and 3072 (done). Live state is unchanged: the stack still runs copy 7247d80c7, and this reaches it at the next re-pin.
